Privacy policy

1Who we are

Prépara (monprepara.ca) is a business registered in Québec. For any question about your personal information, write to the person responsible for the protection of personal information at bonjour@monprepara.ca — that address receives and handles access, correction and deletion requests.

2What we collect

We collect only what the service needs in order to work. Specifically:

• Your account: email address, password (stored hashed, never in plain text), first name if you provide one.
• Your profile: your goal, your current and target level, your exam date if you have one, your country of origin, and whether you are in Canada or abroad.
• Your work: your assessment answers, the texts you write, your results, your plan and your daily practice.
• Your payments: the amount, the date and the transaction identifiers. We never see your card number — it goes directly to Stripe.
• Your correspondence with us: the emails you send us and those we send you.

We do not collect your immigration status, your identity documents, or any information about your government file. We do not need them and we do not want to hold them.

3Your writing is graded by an artificial intelligence

This is the most important point on this page, so it gets its own section. When you write a text in the assessment or in practice, that text is sent to Anthropic (Claude) to be graded and commented on. Your texts therefore leave our servers and are processed by an external provider, in the United States.

We do not send your name or email address along with the text. If you are not comfortable with this, write to us: human grading is possible, but slower.

4Who processes your data for us

We rely on providers to run the service. Each receives only what it needs. Most are established outside Québec, mainly in the United States, which the law requires us to tell you.

5Cookies and audience measurement

We use a single cookie: the one that keeps you signed in to your account. It is strictly necessary for the service to work, it cannot be read by third-party scripts, and it expires after 12 hours — or 30 days if you tick “stay signed in”.

To measure traffic on the public pages we use a cookieless measurement tool, which sets no cookies and does not follow anyone from site to site. We use no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel and no social network tracker.

6How long we keep it

As long as your account exists, then 12 months after it is closed — long enough to answer a question about your progress or handle a payment dispute. Accounting records tied to payments are kept longer, as tax law requires.

You can ask for your account to be deleted at any time without waiting for that period.

7Your rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to give you a portable copy. You can also withdraw your consent and close your account.

Write to bonjour@monprepara.ca. We answer within 30 days. If our answer does not satisfy you, you can contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

8Security

Passwords are one-way hashed — we cannot read them, even deliberately. Traffic to and from the site is encrypted. Payments are processed by Stripe and card numbers never pass through our servers.

No system is perfectly secure. If a confidentiality incident presenting a serious risk occurred, we would notify you and inform the relevant authority.

9Changes

If we change this policy, we change the date at the top of the page. If the change affects what we do with your data, we write to you.
